A WALK IN THE (lion filled) PARK

Saturday morning nature walk. Learned 1) Whistling Acacia gets its name from the wind moving through the insect-filled berries 2) Maasai women poke the legs of their warriors with tips of spears heated in the fire to test their manhood 3) Elephant dung is boiled and used as medicine; often fed to babies to prevent future maladies. Think vaccinations. 5) Before spearing lion, again to prove their manhood, men drink a hallucinogenic “mint” which I guess makes a lion appear to be a small house cat  4) Hyena poo is white because they scavenge and with their sharp teeth grind and eat the bone. Their poo is then eaten by other animals to get their calcium.
